SIGNATURE CAMPAIGN AGAINST GOVT. PERKS FOR TOP PARTY LEADERS WHO HELD SENIOR POLITICAL POSITIONS Kathmandu, 30 July: A nation-wide signature campaign sponsored by ‘civil society’ is being launched from Naya Baneshwor Monday against government perks, including expensive limousines, for top party leaders who held senior political positions in the administrative hierarchy. Former prime ministers, presidents, vice-presidents, home ministers, speakers are beneficiaries of a scheme announced by a the government of Prime Minster Baburam Bhattarai promising austerity. The plan from which PM Bhattarai will also benefit, is being launched through an ordinance which has been promulgated by the president. The civil society is being launched immediately after a hunger strike. Some former premiers, speakers and chief justices have returned government vehicles in scheme involving millions of rupees in official espense. government expense. Nnnn
