Ban on Nepali workers in Iraq lifted

Kathmandu, 28 July: Nepal Wednesday officially lifted a three-year ban on Nepalis working in Iraq.
The ban was imposed after the murder of 12 Nepali workers by a terrorist group there.
Nearly 30,000 Nepali workers faced eviction because of Theban that Nepalis’ stay in that country illegal.

Tiger population up; reaches 144 in Chitwan

Kathmandu, 28 July: A recently held tiger count has concluded that the number of adult tigers have risen from 91 in 2008/09 to 121 now in Chitwan district, Republica reports.
In addition, it has put the number of sub-adults at approximately 22 to23 in the Chitwan National Park. With the new study, the tiger population in Chitwan has now reached 144.
The study was undertaken by a government monitoring team, which has now found 30 more adult tigers during the study period from November 2009 to April 2010.
