Parliamentary committee summons premier, home minister

Kathmandu, 30 June: Parliament’s state management committee Wednesday summoned Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal and Home Minister Bhim Rawal to depose before it on the deteriorating law and order situation.
The summon comes after a reprimand from the National Human Rights Commission which noted the security situation has deteriorated with killings and abductions.
Date for the deposition hasn’t been fixed.

Ban on tree felling extended

Kathmandu, 30 June: Nation-wide felling of trees was extended by the cabinet from two to four months following widespread destruction of forests.
The previous two-month ban had no effect.

Govt. stipend for Kumari increased

Kathmandu, 30 June: Government stipend for Goddess Kumari was increased 25 percent by the government Wednesday.
Stipend was hiked for Bhairab and Ganesh as well.
