“In 365 days, there are 52 weekly holidays and 90 festival, religion holidays. In the remaining 275 days, with closure of offices at three in the afternoon on Fridays and strikes to push demands, there are more ‘public holidays’. Perhaps Nepal tops the first group of nations that observes most public holidays. Nepal follows Sri Lanka in South Asia. If Nepal is to develop, government should give only 52 weekly and 12 festival holidays.”

(Dr Ganesh Gurung , Kantipur, 30 Dec.)

‘Look. Nepal is not big like India. That’s why it shouldn’t be bifurcated on the pretext of federalism. There should be no federalism based on ethnicity. The world will laugh when you talk of secularism and form federations based don ethnicity.”

(MJP leader and former Jharkhand Chief Minister Bhagat Singh Kisari, Ghatana ra Bichar, 30 Dec.)

“There should be separate states for Brahmins in Kathmandu, Pokhara, Jhapa and Morang. When people with 2,3 percent population are getting states, Bahuns should also get a state.”
